Trying to find this place at night was difficult… The only signage that has the restaurant name leads you into the hooka bar, then two doors over to the left is the restaurant. The windows are wrapped and you can’t really tell its a restaurant except to open the door and look inside.
Once you walk in the place looks absolutely nothing like the Yelp photos, which are outdated. Dang, I should’ve taken pictures so they could be updated. Oh well, next time. There are some awkward tables and large chairs and a few hallways that go into other odd rooms. We are standing there awkwardly waiting for someone to greet us, which never happened. I walk around the corner and say hi to a girl sitting down reading, she doesn’t even look up. I continue to say there’s 2 of us if we could get menus and go back to the front to just seat ourselves. A minute or so she comes by with menus. Definitely not the best place for service or such. Though typically you don’t get great service in most ethnic restaurants, they aren’t about service (keep that in mind)
Food wise… it was actually so good!!! I’d have to say 2nd best to my favorite spot in Utah and nothing has came close to Mahider. I even loved the collard greens and I’m never a fan! The green split peas were undercook and the only thing lacking flavor. I wish I ordered more of the shiro wat to go! Yum!!! Over all for $13.99 it was a filling meal and enough for leftovers. I say try it, just don’t expect good service and you’ll have a great meal!!
