The food is well prepared. The injera tastes fresh and has the slight sour tang that is so desirable, but is sometimes hard to achieve.

The service is reasonably good, although the young women who served my was not completely conversant in English and had to get help in answering my questions about some dishes. Everyone seemed to sincerely be seeking to please me and made meal suggestions that were very helpful.

Constant loud Ethiopian pop music. Less intrusive traditional music would have been preferred.

The dining area also serves as the audience area for the weekend live music. There are bright lights around the stage, even during the week, and the tables are widely spaced, so the atmosphere is kind of night-clubby, rather than “fine diney”.

The Ethiopian standard chicken stew, doro wot, had good flavor and was not overly spiced, but the chicken ingredient was a single wish bone with little meat on it. There was shredded chicken throughout the wot, but no leg or breast meat on the bone was provided (as is usual when this dish is served).

I was there for mid-evening dinner, and was the only dining customer throughout the hour I was there. A single or a couple might feel lonely.

There is no separate lunch time menu and preparation time is significant, so it’s not a great choice for a quick noon meal.

So, while the food is, as other reviewers have noted,  a good value, the quality of the dishes is not consistent and the general atmosphere is not very inviting.

I’ll visit it again and hope to give it another star if warranted.
